(7th-9th grade) September 5-December 23; Live class meets Wednesdays at 3:30 pm ET.
Instructor: Kenneth Rolling. This class begins with the very idea of words - what they are and do. We will review the parts of speech and the rules for each of these. Time will be spent learning tenses, prepositions, and common errors. Students will learn to construct elegant sentences and analyze difficult ones into diagrams. The vocabulary of grammar, so important for non-English language studies, will be introduced and reinforced. Customs of proper usage will be discussed as well. Homework will include weekly readings, memorization, worksheets, and quizzes. There will be three writing assignments and a midterm and final test.
