The Homeschool Philosopher aims to provide students with information and links concerning all things classical and philosophical to aid them in their quest for wisdom through the study of history and academic philosophy from the Catholic perspective. In addition, we host Alecia Rolling's posts on German-English homeschooling and cross-posts to The Bosconian Review and the Schola Rosa Journal.

Fall 2011 History Course: The Greeks
Grades 7-9. September 5-December 23, 2011. Live class meets Wednesdays at 12:30pm ET. Instructor: Kenneth Rolling The Greeks provide us with many of the known firsts or bests of Western Civilization: mathematicians, astronomers, poets, philosophers, statesmen, and historians. This course provides a combination of a narrative of Greek history from the earliest times up until the rise of Rome with a thematic focus on just such intellectual and artistic achievers. The idea of enquiry will be the backbone concept of the course: the Greeks provide examples about how to begin to ask questions about things we all see and do everyday that lead directly to many modern sciences and arts. A brief introduction to the Greek alphabet and language will also be included! For more information, visit The Rolling Acres School website.
