(10th-12th grade) September 5-December 23; Live class meets Thursdays at 12:30 pm ET.
Instructor: Kenneth Rolling. In this class we will engage with the great works of literature, history, and philosophy of the Greek and Roman cultures in order to attempt to grasp how they thought about some of the big questions and how their thinking has helped to make us who we are today. Readings will include Homer, Herodotus, the pre-Socratic philosophers, Plato, Aristotle, Cicero, and Virgil, among others. Homework will include weekly readings, study questions, and written reflections. An argumentative paper dealing with a predetermined question will be submitted in two drafts. The Homeschool Philosopher aims to provide students with information and links concerning all things classical and philosophical to aid them in their quest for wisdom through the study of history and academic philosophy from the Catholic perspective. In addition, we host Alecia Rolling's posts on German-English homeschooling and cross-posts to The Bosconian Review and the Schola Rosa Journal.
